Writers' Week Spring 2021: NU Writing Read-In, Moderated by Cara Marta Messina Assistant Director of the Writing Program
NU Writing is an online journal that publishes compositions made in First-Year Writing, Advanced Writing in the Disciplines, or any other writing-intensive course. The theme of the 2021 NU Writing publication is “Antiracism and Justice,” and this year’s call for papers received hundreds of submissions from students across departments at the University.
This year is the first in what we hope is a longstanding tradition to host a NU Writing Read-In event during Writers’ Week. Speakers will read and discuss excerpts of their writing. Audience members can expect to participate in a dialogue about each student’s writing, antiracism, activism, and how they use language to imagine a better world. Assistant Director of the Writing Program, Cara Marta Messina, will moderate the session.
Cara Marta Messina is a PhD candidate at Northeastern University's English Department focusing on writing studies, fan studies, digital humanities, and social justice. She is the current Assistant Director of the Writing Program and editor-in-chief of NU Writing. In the fall 2021 semester, she will be an Assistant Professor of English in Professional Writing at Jacksonville State University's Department of English.
