We frequently talk about sustainability in terms of environmental impact, but the concept goes beyond reducing carbon emissions and limiting packaging waste. These are extremely important, but to reach overall climate and sustainability goals—to be truly effective—corporate sustainability must involve the entire supply chain, which, in turn, must incorporate supplier diversity. Business supplier diversity programs ensure that potential vendors have fair and equal chances to compete for business, and when they succeed, diverse suppliers enhance the local economy by creating local wealth, positive role models, career trajectories, and hope for people in our community. As a result, diverse suppliers attract and develop a good workforce, and build economic opportunities for continued reinvestment within the community.

Jeff Wormuth from the CFO’s Office and Rosanna Molinaro and Catherine Walsh from Facilities Management will provide a discussion on supplier diversity efforts underway and planned for the university and Facilities Management. We hope others will join as we continue our efforts to expand supplier diversity university-wide.
