This semester, the contemplative pedagogy inquiry group is reading The Heart of Higher Education by Parker Palmer and Arthur Zajonc—a theoretical and practical book by two giants in the fields of contemplative pedagogy and mindfulness. Meetings combine discussion of the text with specific mindfulness practices in the spirit of the book, seeking a holistic approach to educating the whole person in ourselves and our students. Across semesters, this inquiry group has grown into a community focused on inquiry and mutual support through the integration of our readings, our experiences, and our classroom goals. We welcome both those new to mindfulness practice and those with more experience with the contemplative facet of teaching and learning.
