Stable Ground Anti-Displacement Lab and Game Jam
Thursday, November 14, 2019 6pm to 7:30pm
About this Event
Free EventPlease join NuLawLab on Thursday, November 14, at Boston’s Institute for Contemporary Art (ICA) for the Stable Ground Anti-Displacement Lab and Game Jam. The lab will be playing and critiquing a prototype board game called “Fight Displacement!” that teaches players about Boston’s Office of Housing Stability, the Boston Planning and Development Agency, the Zoning Board of Appeals, and Tenants’ Legal Rights, as well as how to apply lessons from past Boston activism to today’s housing crisis. The event will include refreshments and a brainstorm of other ideas of how to gamify these topics. Results from next week will serve as fodder for further iteration and/or new game idea development, which will be play-tested at a follow-up event at the ICA on January 11, 2020.
This work is part of our Stable Ground project, and also one of many ongoing outcomes resulting from our collaboration with local artist and educator Anthony Romero as part of his long-term engagement with the ICA titled first in thought . . . then in action.
