Promoting Knowledge Transfer Through Expansive Framing
Tuesday, October 29, 2019 1:30pm to 2:30pm
About this Event
Free EventTransfer of learning happens when a learner applies what they know beyond the initial learning experience. This is an important outcome for our teaching, and it is often challenging for our learners. Recent research shows that how we “frame” a learning experience — how we describe relevant contexts during the learning activities — can increase the likelihood of future transfer. In this quick bite, come learn about transfer and framing, and explore concrete language we can use to help our learners better take what they learn from us into future contexts.
Recommended for: Northeastern educators who teach courses or other long-term learning opportunities.
For Future Faculty Program participants, this session fulfills the “Active Learning" and "Assignments & Assessments" requirements.
