Join the Center for Emerging Markets at Northeastern University for a research lecture by Professor João Albino-Pimentel exploring the intersection of business power and political influence in emerging economies.

Drawing on a unique dataset of Ukrainian tycoons, this talk examines why powerful business leaders engage in political activity such as funding parties or running for office. The research explores how institutional conditions, political vulnerability, and media ownership shape the ways business elites participate in political markets.

The lecture offers new insight into how political and economic power interact in developing democracies and how emerging market institutions influence the strategies of business leaders.
