Course description:

Surveys pollution in our atmosphere, on land, and in our oceans. Develop the skills to understand the sources, processes, and fate of environmental contaminants in surface and groundwater, soils, sediment, and biota with special focus on organic contaminants. Link environmental chemistry with ecotoxicology through an understanding of bioaccumulation, food web models, and risk assessment. Case studies and real world scenarios will be used to illustrate important concepts.  Innovative solutions for pollution remediation will be emphasized. Learn to discuss current pollution issues and be able to clearly communicate these issues to a broad audience.
