The Center for Public Interest Advocacy and Collaboration invites all students to find out more about pro bono work with a variety of organizations. This event is co-sponsored by the student group How to Get it Done (HTGID).

 

A variety of organizations and groups will be on hand to fill you in on pro bono opportunities. You’ll hear about ways to:

  • Commit to leading programming that equips students to get engaged on a grassroots level and to deploy your legal skills as social change agents

  • Assist domestic violence victims

  • Take on urgent humanitarian sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking, LGBTQ persecution, refugee cases from Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Sudan, Somalia and elsewhere

  • Get legal observer training and do ICE court observations

  • Work on holistic solutions for family law issues of divorce, custody, adoption, reproductive technology law, juvenile justice, domestic violence, elder issues, same-sex marriage implications, end of life care and more

  • Facilitate health care for the homeless and do Know Your Rights presentations

  • Conduct Street Law Clinics

  • Support dining workers’ rights

  • Become an urban school mentor in an enrichment program

  • Find out how you can protect individual rights and freedoms working in local law offices dedicated to civil rights and immigration work

  • Help launch a pro bono student org

  • Learn how the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court acknowledges your pro bono service
