Northeastern's First Female Deejay reflects on Her Forty-Year Career in Radio and the Music Industry

 

Donna L. Halper, PhD is a former broadcaster, who spent nearly four decades in radio. A widely quoted media historian, she is the author of six books and many articles. Among her areas of expertise are the history of broadcasting, the history of baseball, and the history of rock and roll. She is credited with discovering the classic rock band Rush, who dedicated two albums to her, and she is seen in a documentary about them. A professor of communication and media studies at Lesley University in Cambridge MA, Dr. Halper was a 2023 inductee into the Massachusetts Broadcasters Hall of Fame and the first woman to win the "Pioneer Broadcaster" Award.
