About this Event
Have you ever been told that you have an accent? Many people believe that only other people have accents, at least until they travel! This interactive mini-class considers some common myths surrounding language use and how these assumptions may be tied to issues of discrimination.
Guest speaker Dr. Olivia Rines from Arizona State University will join the Linguistics Program to give a mini-class on "Standard Language and the Myth of the Non-Accent".
Anyone from the Northeastern community is welcome to join via zoom!
