As one of the original Dialogues at Northeastern, this program is one of the most established and longest-running programs at Northeastern in partnership with Meiji University in Tokyo.

The Dialogue of Civilizations program is called The Twenty-First Century City: Tokyo and Kyoto to Japan for Summer 1 2021. The courses, POLS 4937 and POLS 4938, count as electives in the Political Science, International Affairs, and Human Services majors and minors, or as open electives in your undergraduate degree. The program’s courses also fulfill the social policy requirement in the Human Services Program. Students may also fulfill requirements in the Urban Studies and Asian Studies minors. As an interdisciplinary program, it is open to all majors and does not require any background in Japanese. All classes, tours, and activities are in English. Open to freshmen and upperclassmen.
