About this Event
Presentation of the new course CLTR1503 - VENICE: ART, POLITICS, SOCIETY and a Trip to Venice. The course will meet on MW2:50 – 4:30 ET or 11:50 - 1:30 PT (online/synchronous)
Study Venetian art and architecture, and spend spring break in Venice, Italy! Students enrolled in CLTR 1503 (open to all students) can apply for a trip to Venice during spring break.

Open to all students, no prerequisites or language skills required.
Today, Venice’s monuments and way of life are threatened by rising sea levels, pollution, and unsustainable tourism practices. Students are invited to apply for an embedded spring break trip to learn how the city is meeting these challenges. Our trip includes the study of Venetian art and architecture, a tour of the lagoon and its island ecosystem, and consultation with experts on cultural preservation and sustainability in a time of rapid climate change.
