Euphemisms in the English Language
Have you ever wondered what someone meant when they said, “That’s interesting”? Is the person truly interested or is there another message they are trying to convey? The English language is full of euphemisms- kind words, expressions, or phrases that can be used to discuss a harsh, uncomfortable, or unpleasant topic. Euphemistic language is especially useful when you want to be polite and avoid creating awkward situations. In this workshop, we will discuss common euphemistic terms as well as aspects of north American culture (such as sports) that have influenced euphemistic language. Register here
