-Karla Gaitan, High school English teacher for Excel Academy Charter Schools and former English NU MA (’18)

Moderated by: Professor Erika Boeckeler

This panel will be dedicated to exploring career pathways following graduation from a masters-level English program. This event is part of the job placement programming series organized by English Department placement officer Erika Boeckeler and graduate program coordinator Heather Hardy, and serves as the fourth and final panel of our October series. This panel, featuring Leah Lapszynski, Brice Lanham, and Karla Gaitan, will serve as an opportunity to hear from alumni on how they navigated the job search process and what their career paths have been like since graduating. Some specific topics will include: what influenced students’ decisions to immediately pursue a career as opposed to a terminal degree following graduation, how students made professional connections from their degree programs, how skills from the English MA program translate to various professional fields, and how alumni have stayed connected to the academic community.

While this event is targeted towards MA students, all are welcome, including current instructors, faculty advisors, and undergraduate students who may be considering an English MA degree.

I have requested a captioner for this panel, and I will send out a link to the recording following the session. Please reach out to me at h.hardy@northeastern.edu with any questions.
