What are the possible future structures of social life, its regulation and human possibility? These may seem like unanswerable philosophical questions, but our future human existence will be shaped by the invention, distribution and commercialization of new forms of machines, buildings, labor opportunities and everyday needs, such as energy. This conference brings together those working and doing research at the intersection of law, business, technology, creative design and advocacy. Specifically, we engage Northeastern University’s core mission of social justice to ask how stakeholders across public and private realms, research and industry, advocacy and business, can affect a better future in light of our digitally connected world, the opportunities it presents and the pitfalls to avoid. We invite industry leaders, university researchers, technologists, entrepreneurs, artists, lawyers and political advocates to join us in a far-ranging discussion about Connected Futures and Future Humans: Next Generation Questions for a Just World.
