Community-Engaged Teaching & Research's Fall Partnership Orientation
Thursday, September 4, 2025 3:45pm to 8pm
About this Event
40 Leon Street, Boston, MA, Boston
The Community-Engaged Teaching & Research (CETR) team is in charge of service-learning development on campus. Service-Learning (S-L) is a form of experiential education for students and a teaching tool for faculty that purposefully integrates academics and service to meet classroom and community goals. As part of the coursework their faculty devise, students serve with community partners to support the learning of the course's material.
The Service-Learning Program supports partnerships between academic courses, faculty members, and community partners by:
- matching community partners with faculty members and courses that are likely able to meet your identified goals.
- providing space for community partners and faculty members/Service-Learning Teaching Assistants (S-LTAs) to connect through a Partnership Orientation at the beginning of the semester.
- training a Service-Learning Teaching Assistant (S-LTA) to be a point person for partnerships with a given course and to assign students from the class to your organization (if applicable).
- facilitating multiple check points and a thorough evaluation process to help ensure that your partnerships are on track for success.
In service of that support, this event is a place for faculty and community partners to come together with CETR's student leaders to discuss the specific ways they want to collaborate during the incoming semester.
