Event description: Join Dr Cassie Ulph, Digital Development Officer at the University of Leeds, as she talks about her project to map sentiment in relation to place in the letters of the eighteenth century author and salonniere Hester Thrale Piozzi (c.1740-1821). Dr Ulph’s work travels across time and space, using a combination of machine learning approaches to entity recognition and sentiment analysis, geospatial mapping and literary-historical textual scholarship. The talk will consider the possibilities and challenges of this type of cross-disciplinary work, and include discussion and feedback on the ongoing project.
