Author Event: Mark Pinsky Visits Northeastern Law
Monday, December 2, 2019 4pm to 5pm
About this Event
At the invitation of Professor Jeremy Paul and the student leaders of How to Get It Done, Mark Pinsky, former head of the Community Development Financial Industry, and co-author of the new book Organized Money: How Progressives Can Leverage the Financial System to Work for Them and Not Against Them will be on campus this afternoon at 4:00 PM in 32 Dockser to speak about how progressives can advance their agenda by paying greater attention to the way money and wealth are organized. Mr. Pinsky makes a compelling case that in our current environment the overwhelming majority of financial investments are managed by large financial institutions, whose political views often differ from those of the many progressives whose money is held in such investments. If the progressive community wishes to exercise the amount of political clout commensurate with its financial resources, the book suggests, careful thought must be devoted to building an alternative network of financial arrangements capable of wielding power to promote progressive aims. The authors are building a movement devoted to this cause, which you can read about here. Please join Professor Jeremy Paul and your fellow students who will have a chance to question the author about how to move from concept to reality.
