Every year, 300 million tons of plastic are produced, and some estimations predict that in 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. Half of all plastic products are designed for single use, and around 8 million tons of plastic waste end up in our oceans every year.
To address these concerns related to plastic waste, researchers working with Volunteer Science are seeking your creative ideas. Everyone who cares about building a more sustainable planet is invited to brainstorm with us: experts, students, designers, innovators, and entrepreneurs.
This exciting non-profit project was initiated by a collaboration of researchers at four universities. With this project, they aim to use the principles of crowdsourcing and co-creation to promote social innovation for environmental protection and a better world.
Deadline for idea submissions: July 21, 2017
