Public talk: Science, stewardship, and citizens on the Boston Harbor islands
Presented by Marc Albert, Natural Resource Partnerships Program Director
The Boston Harbor islands are a national treasure with a unique geologic history and biota. Since 1996, the National Parks Service has been working to better understand and interpret the natural history of these 34 islands, as well as to study coastal change. Through its all-taxa biodiversity inventory and ongoing efforts to engage students and volunteers in citizen science projects, knowledge of coastal and intertidal ecosystems within Boston Harbor are better understood, and the islands better protected as a result.
