Presents an integrated overview of biological, chemical, physical, and geological processes operating in the world's oceans. Emphasis is placed on understanding the fragility and resilience of marine systems in the face of human-driven perturbations such as habitat fragmentation, elevated sea surface temperature and acidification, non-native species, non-sustainable fishing and aquaculture, and coastal land use. This course prepares students for further course work in both marine biology and in earth, oceans and environmental change.
