Involves topic and paper discussions focused on developing detailed knowledge and agility at describing the theoretical and applied foundations of interdisciplinary SES research. Includes semester-long projects to develop hands-on skills for conducting robust, methodologically sound studies of social-ecological systems. A major emphasis of the course will involve participatory modeling as a tool for both scientific inquiry and stakeholder engagement.
