Love, Inc.: Dating Apps, the Big White Wedding, and Chasing the Happily Never After - A Talk with Author Laurie Essig

Celebrate V-Day the feminist way! Laurie Essig, author of Love, Inc., will give a talk on her new book, which invites readers to wipe the fairy dust out of our eyes and see romance for what it really is: an ideology. Romance blinds us to what we really need to live happily ever after and instead convinces us to spend more and more time and more and more money on romantic love.  Essig is Professor and Director of Women’s, Gender, and Feminist Studies at Middlebury College. This talk is hosted by the Program in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and the Northeastern Humanities Center and is generously supported by the New England Humanities Consortium. Light refreshments will be served.
