This course introduces fundamental techniques of sustainable site design in the urban
realm, including earthworks, water, and vegetal systems.
Primary topics include
• grading
• storm water management
• urban plants
• basic site elements such as retaining walls and paving systems
Students learn design practices for creating living environments that are humanistically
and environmentally balanced.

Instructor: Heather Heimarck
Heather is a highly accomplished landscape architect, with her own design practice, and has been the Director of the Landscape institute of the Arnold Arboretum.
