PHRGE Human Rights Institute
On December 7 - 8, 2017, the Program on Human Rights and the Global Economy (PHRGE) will host its 12th annual Human Rights Institute at Northeastern University School of Law. The PHRGE Institute convenes scholars, advocates and activists to explore a pressing human rights issue from a human rights perspective. This year’s Institute will focus on land rights and will pay special attention to proposals to develop a Land Tenure Security Index as a tool to help vulnerable rural populations secure their land tenure. PHRGE Visiting Scholar, Alfred Brownell, will host the 2017 institute. Mr. Brownell is a Liberian human rights lawyer who founded Green Advocates, Liberia, and has worked extensively on human rights and environmental law at national, regional and international levels.
