Dragon Boat Festival
Boston Dragon Boat Festival takes place annually on the banks of the Charles River in Boston and Cambridge. Starting in 1979, Boston Dragon Boat Festival, the first and oldest such festival in North America, has grown from a small neighborhood event commemorating the death in 200 B.C. of the beloved Chinese poet-patriot Qu Yuan to the largest Asian-American cultural event in New England, drawing more than 20,000 participants and spectators.
GSS invites NUCSSA (Chinese Student and Scholar Association at Northeastern) to showcase this Chinese traditional festival. You’ll learn about the history of the festival, how people celebrate it in China, and interesting facts about the dragon boat and the competition. As one of the teams that compete every year in the event, NUCSSA will also give you tips for watching the competition.
This is a workshop offered by Global Student Success. RSVP: https://neu.mywconline.net.
