Mejay Gula is an architect and lecturer at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work focuses on in the adaptive reuse of closed and often forgotten buildings in Chicago. From 2011-2017, she worked with the nonprofit organization Rebuild Foundation and the University of Chicago’s Place Lab, focusing on the growth of arts and culture in the South Side. Prior to this, she was a project architect for Landon Bone Baker Architects, focusing on affordable housing development projects and renovations of historic buildings in Chicago communities.

Born and raised in Chicago, she holds a Bachelor of Architecture Degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 2004, and is an alum of Archeworks 2007. In addition to practicing architecture, she dedicates her time and passion as an educator and craftswoman.
