Better World Books Drive
Friday, April 26, 2013
Circle K is hosting a book drive during from Tuesday, April 16th, through Friday, April 26th, in conjunction with Better World Books. If the bookstore won't give you good money for your used books (or if you want to donate them regardless), please consider donating them to this drive.
Book drive bins are located in:
NU Bookstore (Buyback area)
Center for Community Service (172 Curry Student Center)
West Village A-North
West Village B
West Village F
For each book that Better World Books accepts, they will donate $1 to The One Fund, benefiting those who were affected by the Boston Marathon tragedy (http://www.onefundboston.org/). This fund is being organized by Governor Deval Patrick, Mayor Thomas Menino, and Boston law firm Goodwin Proctor to raise money to help those families most affected by the tragic events that unfolded during Monday’s Boston Marathon. We expect to raise a few hundred dollars from this drive.
In addition, 8% of revenue from books that are resold online atwww.betterworldbooks.com will be donated to The Eliminate Project, an effort between our parent organization Kiwanis International and UNICEF to eliminate maternal/neonatal tetanus by 2015 through mass immunization and education. Just $1.80 buys the 3 vaccinations that a woman needs to protect herself and all of her future children from MNT. For more info, go towww.eliminateproject.org.
Books that are not sold online are donated to Better World Books' literacy partners worldwide. Books that are cannot be sold or donated will be recycled.
Better World Books takes donations of all kinds of books. Their "A-List" consists of college textbooks or other books used in a college classroom that were published over the last 10 years. They will also take all sorts of fiction, non-fiction, travel books, cook books, etc.
