In wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, policymakers must continually weigh how their decisions relate to national defense, the rule of law, and public opinion. Should terrorist suspects be tried in civilian courts? How does public perception of military commissions influence the commissions’ effectiveness? When, if ever, should national security concerns trump procedural rights?
Please join Northeastern University’s Doctor of Law and Policy in the Raytheon Amphitheater on Thursday, October 17, 2013, from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m., for an evening lecture by Brigadier General Mark Martins, Chief Prosecutor of Military Commissions, US Army. General Martins will address the role of reformed military commissions within the US and global justice system.
In additional to the lecture, staff and faculty from the College will be available to answer questions about our academic programs. Learn more about our Doctor of Law & Policy, MA in Homeland Security, MS in Criminal Justice, MPS in Geographic Information Technology, MS in Global Studies and International Affairs, and more.
